» emodel claimed very famous models got discovered through emodel.com

A news team sent an uncover model to check out emodel.com's San Antonio, Texas, "scouting" franchise. The following post was made in a Texas internet forum on February 12, 2002:

Last night KSAT 12, the local SA news, ran a story about a company called E-Models based in Orlando, FL. It seems they have many "scouts" approaching female models all over SA telling them they could be models, and the company would post their images on there website. One lady called the news to check it out. So the news team sent a "plus-size model" to the local office of E-Models. Well, they measure you, and do a head-shot, then let you talk to the owner on the phone, and you are accepted to be allowed to post your images, so all these big talent search companies could find you. (I won't mention any names). It only cost $ 20.00 per month to keep your portfolio on their site... but... they want $495.00 to $595.00 up front. I presume that does not include any photo work to build your portfolio. They told the news "model" they have had some very famous models get their start on E-Models. The models they named were already famous BEFORE the company even came into being!
