BEFORE:

Emodel is not a scam.

Passionflower: Sorry to hear about your experience. Let me clarify a few things.

Emodel is the largest scouting company and marketing tool for international web exposure to models, as opposed to the models always reprinting color Zed cards w/ several photos, mailing them, etc. and spending mega-bucks in doing so.

In the long run, Emodel is less costly. It is for those who are serious about breaking into modeling or those already in it, and want more exposure.

As you know, to model or act, you must pay to get yourself marketed no matter what. Zed cards are a lot more costly with printing costs than headshots, so I see how the price freaked you out!

The acting portion is in conjuction with other established actor websites. Instead of a modeling portfolio, it is your headshot, resume. It is exposure so an actor/actress can be called in to audition, background work, etc., as you normally would when sending out your marketing materials.

Neither portions of the site guarantee work (as if you sent out your resume/headshot), but do guarantee excellent exposure due to the registered high-profile companies/clients/agencies/casting/etc., which may be easier/less costly/take less time than putting up a nice website of your own, and trying to get the CDs, and the rest, to look at your site.

There is also a guarantee if you aren't satisfied the first year, your next two years are free. It's another option for exposure.

Jennifer: It's a compliment that you were scouted as often as you say. You must have a great look! But, don't tear Emodel down if you don't really know anything about them.

Kimberly D.: Sad to hear that this guy was not believing in what he was representing and didn't care to learn, though training is provided. He probably didn't stick around, anyhow. Please don't judge by just that experience.

I happen to be a model scout and believe in the company. I and many others in management have worked in the industry, and believe in the product and opportunities it offers.

Many have been or are still working models or actors. The company is expanding internationally due to its success and many people believing in it, and will go public next year.

There are success stories of new faces that have been discovered by scouts who have been picked up by agencies from being on the site. The success percentage rate is great. One of the head directors is Supermodel Kim Alexis. See the site for yourself.

AFTER:

I thank you all for your input, sincerely. For a couple of weeks now, I've been having a gut feeling of no desire to continue scouting.

I've heard one too many negative things about the company (from you guys and some that I or other scouts have scouted), in addition to lacking some professionalism with talent (i.e., pressure sales with the phone interview, inconsistencies on website) and scouts (i.e. messing up on paychecks).

Plus hearing, "Oh, someone already scouted me" several times, and feeling like the integrity of the company was cheapened by this and the quick overturn of many scouts.

I don't want to put my integrity on the line, and have to believe in what I'm representing. Now that I look back, the management could come off as "defensive" sometimes... and now I know why.

I was led to believe the things I wrote in my earlier comment about it, and hoped it to be true. I'm glad I wrote on this Board, which led to the great argumentative input from you and others who wrote.

You have all confirmed what my gut was saying... THANK YOU. And even just yesterday I told another scout/friend that I wouldn't continue with the company and why.

She was happy to hear my words, which confirmed her own feelings, and shared more with me of what she found out, and agreed the same way.

Hoochy: I especially thank you for your note, since you, too, have been in my position. I thought of contacting the agencies as well, but didn't want to take the time, since I was already having negative feelings of not wanting this anymore. I'm so glad you did the research, and thank you for sharing.

I take it back everyone... eModel IS a scam. DON'T waste your hard-earned money ($500 + $20/mo.). And by all means, DON'T represent the company!!!

Have a great Holiday Season and New Year, everyone. Now I can with a better conscience!
